It is a simple straight barrel, but the vertical cut gives it a very good grip feel. The gripping sensation is not too much, yet the barrel is easy to use with a good release. I got the hard barrel first and found it easy to use, so I bought the soft barrel as well. I think the soft barrel is also very usable.
I use the 22g barrel (20g barrel only) and I can feel the "thud" of the barrel. If you only throw soft barrels, the 20g (18g) may be enough for you. However, it is slightly thinner, so I recommend 22g.

I purchased this barrel recommended on this site and am currently using it.
I have used several straight barrels in the past, but this is the one I feel most comfortable with.
If you see one, please give it a try.
